wonder why

It's a handy tool if you mainly view mail from a local replica and want to quickly send and receive without switching to the replica page. I have about 500 sales reps who connect via vpn but view mail from a local replica. It's a nice option for office (LAN) users as well.

Also, if you use Notes for POP3/IMAP mail accounts it's a nice shortcut.
